ABOUT

In 1832 William Vivers, an immigrant from Dumfries in Scotland, first settled the property Kings Plains: 25 000 hectares of promising pastoral land between Glen Innes and Inverell on the rich New England tablelands of northern New South Wales.

In 1908 his great-nephew, George Vivers, began construction of what would become one of the most significant family homes in the country. He created a 28 room, 3 level castle complete with tower and battlements. It is built in the Scottish Baronial style and is known as Kings Plains Castle.

The grand home has now been refurbished and developed as an exclusive guesthouse with eleven rooms available for accommodation. The castle is rich in history, and each room has been named after a character in the history of Kings Plains Station.

Eleven guest rooms

King room, seven queen rooms,

two twin rooms and one single room.

Five bathrooms

King room has private ensuite with clawfoot bath.

Other bedrooms are located close to four bathrooms throughout. On very busy nights, guests may need to share.

King Suite: $ 300 for 1st night,

$ 550 for 2 nights, $ 730 for a 3 night stay

Queen Rooms: $ 230 for 1st night,

$ 400 for 2 nights, $ 550 for a 3 night stay

Twin Rooms: $ 200 for 1st night,

$340 for 2 nights, $ 475 for a 3 night stay

Single Room: $ 165 for 1st night,

$285 for 2 nights, $ 420 for a 3 night stay

Our premises are suitable for groups who are happy to self cater. There is a well equiped kitchen available for your use with condiments in the pantry. A BBQ is available.

For groups wanting to prepare their own breakfasts, bacon, eggs etc are provided.
